Resource Abstract
This Webinar presents new research on Bakken edge (gap) well development. Gap well development offers a promising strategy to unlock untapped reserves within fully developed drilling spacing units. By targeting boundary zones that are often underutilized, operators can capture hydrocarbon reserves otherwise left behind and enhance overall recovery. This study evaluates the incremental production potential of gap wells, examines the key performance drivers in boundary areas, and introduces predictive models tailored for mature, high-density reservoirs. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding complex well interactions, including drainage overlap and interference, that influence long-term performance. The insights generated provide a framework for optimizing well placement, spacing, and operational practices to maximize gap well recovery and production efficiency.
